Happy New Year

Hey

Well, I just got back from Guernsey where I have been for the last 10 days. I don’t even check my email when I am there as my parents are still on a dial up connection and it is SO stressful trying to do anything. Honestly, I charged up the computer to check my site and it took 12 minutes before my home page even showed up. How the hell did we ever cope with that?????
Anyway, back in the world of wireless broadband. Sorry to those few people who have sent me rather angry messages about not blogging much in the last month. Of course I will blog more when I am making shows or writing a book, isnt that obvious? That is when my life get’s exciting. I haven’t blogged much recently because I have nothing much to tell. I don’t just want to go on and on about my love life – although I will keep you posted – I think there are enough sex blogs out there, don’t you? Also I haven’t been working on any TV shows recently so my life is a little slow. All I was doing before Christmas was staring at my computer writing and it kind of puts me into a trance. It also doesn’t give me much to talk about, so you shall have to just bear with me for when I am being a workaholic, I get blinkers on and hardly see my friends let alone much else. I apologise and will make more effort now Christmas is over, I promise. I totally appreciate you expressing that you want me to blog more, even if some of you were a tot harsh…friends?

So…how were your Christmas’? Mine was OK but quiet. Guernsey was fun. I had one big night out and drank about 16 shots (no lie). It is like I go back to acting like I was 17 when I am there. I never drink like that anywhere else anymore. Lots of laughs though, and great to see my old school friends.

Back in London now. I have an offer to go to a few things tonight (NYE) but I just don’t know if I can be bothered, is that terrible? I have loads of writing I want to get done before next week, and I am kind of in hermit mode and can’t bear the idea of MORE booze and the freezing cold. I will probably be really sad at midnight if I stay in alone, so I will see how I get on with my work today and maybe make a last minute rush to a dance floor.

I have a really busy week or so left here, then back to LA on Jan 9th where I will have more time. So many of you ask me for career advice so when I get back to LA I will do a good blog on how I suggest you could get to the next step. Also feel free to send in questions you have for me. Because I am spending a lot of time alone at my desk at the mo it would be good to have some suggestions on things to blog about as my brain is pretty slow. But I do love my site loads, and even when I don’t have time to write anything I read every single one of your messages and emails and at some point I hope to answer most of them.

I am sorry I haven’t blogged for a while. It isnt because I have nothing to promote – I ALWAYS have something to promote…ME! – it is because I have been busy/stressed/romanced/travelling…the list goes on…

OK, where do I start?

I just landed (two hours ago) at Heathrow. I am locked out my friends house until 5 so am having to entertain myself in Clapham all afternoon. I am SO TIRED that I am drinking coffee like it is water. Bzzzzzzzz! Therefore please excuse any words being in the wrong order, or things just generally not making sense.

I will be in London until around the 23rd, when I will go see my family in Guernsey. i cant wait. Dog walks and log fires..perfect!

I wanted to do the podcast before Christmas, but the sound peops weren’t available so I had to postpone to the New Year. But that will be really fun.

I had a really interesting email the other day asking how my family have coped with my writing such a saucy book. It is a very fair question! I have to say, they have been very supportive. I think my book and the lesbian show really challenged them. They often say that they wish it wasnt me, but how proud they are that I have got to where I am, and that they understand I represent the ‘modern woman’ and that times have changed since they were my age.

So on the whole I am sure they wish I didnt write books about humping people, but they still support me and encourage me to keep going. Which I love and respect them for very much!

I have been doing lots of writing. Got quite a few pieces coming out in the monthlies next year, so will keep you posted on those. I am also very involved in my second book, which I will be able to give some clues about very soon.

I had a long emotional goodbye with Lilu in LA. This will be the first Christmas I have spent without her in 5 years. Boo hooo….but I got her a lovely nanny to look after her while I am away. I go back in about 2 weeks…

There is this girl sitting at the table next to me and she is SO LOUD!!! can I tell her to shut up? She is having an interesting conversation though, the old classic of can men and women be freinds?

I think they can. Well I know they can as I have so many male friends. I hate to say this, but I think that if a man and a women can’t be friends when there is no sexual chemistry, then they must be pretty uptight as it is kind of ridiculous…you could of course tell me otherwise??
